Know the Signs of Use/Abuse |
OPIATES: (smack, junk, dope, horse, skunk, M, mud, morpho, schoolboy, coties) (Includes heroin, morphine and codeine) * Short-lived state of euphoria followed by drowsiness * Slowed heartrate, breathing and brain activity * Depressed appetite, thirst, and slower reflexes * Increased pain tolerance
ALCOHOL: (liquor, cocktails, spirits, booze) * Aggressive tendencies * Depression * Reddening of the eyes and slurred speech * Impaired memory, coordination, and reflexes
METHAMPHETAMINES: (ice, crank, crystal, meth, chalk) * Similar effects as amphetamines, but enters the brain much more quickly * Feelings of alertness and euphoria * Increased heart rate and blood pressure * Dilated pupils of the eyes * Decreased appetite and weight loss * Distorted thinking * Ability to stay awake for long periods of time
ECSTASY: (X, XTC, disco biscuits, scoobie snacks, Adam, Bean, M) * Involuntary teeth clenching and unusual displays of affection * Loss of inhibitions * Problems sleeping * Anxiety and depression
MARIJUANA: (pot, dope, grass, weed, ganja, doobie, reefer, Mary Jane, sinsemilla) * Lack of motivation * Lowered inhibitions; talkativeness * Dry mouth and throat * Increased appetite -"munchies" * Impaired coordination, concentration, and memory * Increased heart rate
COCAINE: (coke, blow, snow, nose candy, toot, flake) * Increased pulse, blood pressure, body temperature and respiratory rate * Dilated pupils of the eyes * Extreme excitability and anxiety * Irritability and insomnia * Loss of appetite
